Just got done with doing a VOKI.com project with 2nd graders. The kids enjoyed the project and they turned out pretty good for the first run. A voki is a talking voice avatar or character. http://www.voki.com
For my project I put the students into groups of 2 and each group was given a keyboarding topic to talk about with their voki.
Things we discovered along the way:
1. Need to have a voki account to save your vokis. I created a gmail account to use with this project and everyone signed in with the same account.
2. Firefox works better than Safari.
3. Recording with the built-in recorder in voki wasn't always dependable so we used Audacity to record our voices and then we uploaded the mp3 files to our voki account.
4. If students weren't finished with their voki but needed to save, I simply had them pick the turkey day default voice and then publish so they wouldn't have to recreate their character.
5. I embedded the vokis into my website using the custom html feature, but you could also just link to voki.com if you wanted.
